With Easter around the corner I've been thinking a lot about the crucifixion of Jesus. I always seem to get excited this time of the year thinking that Easter is coming. I was thinking today, after a conversation some co-workers of mine had about Catholicism and it made me wonder how practicing Catholics celebrate Easter. Do they get excited like I do? It seems to me that 9 times out of 10 a crucifix is used to depict the Catholic "denomination". You know the one, with Jesus hanging limply on the cross, the crown of thorns piercing His brow, with a look of pain and sorrow on His face. I don't doubt that this is how the crucifixion looked but, what's showing the best thing about this Lord we love and celebrate? What's depicting the fact that He ACTUALLY ROSE FROM THE DEAD? Any man can die. There have even been plenty of men that died to save the lives of others. So then if we leave Jesus on the cross, suffering, what separates Him from all the other "gods" people worship? It's the fact that Jesus rose from the grave with the keys of death and hell in His perfect hands that makes Him our Savior! And this is why I get excited at Easter time. I love celebrating the victory Jesus has over death. And guess what? Because Jesus conquered death, so shall I! I'm going to live forever with Him! And I can't wait for that forever to begin! You know what's even greater? In Revelation He tells us not only will we live forever with Him but we will reign like priests and kings for one thousand years after most of the events of Revelation. Amazing! How could anyone say no to this?
"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"
