Power....

I had a great conversation with Scott Anderson today. It really got me thinking about some things. He is going to be giving the message at church next week and he told me he was teaching from 2 Peter. So I decided to do a little reading when I got home a few minutes ago and WOW... I have seriously been wowing EVERYTHING I am reading from the Word these days and I am really enjoying it. Everything seems to come alive right now, some in good-i'm-going-to-jump-for-joy ways, others in heart wrenching convicting ways but all good nonetheless. Galatians 5 and 6 really had my attention all this past week but now 2 Peter has got me captured. In just the first 4 verses Peter reminds us of something we, as believers and followers, and children of God have that the world does not...

"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness." (verse 3)

A couple things about this verse... You know those people who say they aren't "strong" enough to have faith? This verse should show those people that Christians aren't strong enough either, we don't have to be because we can lean wholly on the strength and power of Christ.

This verse should also prove as a constant reminder to us Christians that we really do not have any excuse for letting sin reign in our lives, i mean if you really believe Christ is Christ than you should believe He has all the power, to do anything. We are called sons and daughters of God and even co-heirs with Christ we must believe here that God will lend His power to aid in the protection of His very own children!

Verse 4 states "Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

So not only has God given us His divine power but He gives us His "very great and precious promises" AND He makes is clear that this is how we defend ourselves from the enemy!

Whoever complains that the enemy is too strong and the world is too persuasive needs to remember that Christ has already beat the enemy, which means He is stronger than said enemy! His power is stronger than evil, and much more powerful than the world with all it's corruption. Once this is remembered, don't stop there! Pray for God's power. Pray for His mighty hand to come pluck you out of your circumstance and BE DONE WITH THE WORLD'S CORRUPTION. Don't just sit in the filth you have created and whine that it's too hard. You have the Mighty Lord on your side, call to Him and He will hear you. Turn to Him and repent of the things you do that are of this world and run everyday to the feet of the Lord and receive His intervention in your life...

Read it! 2Peter 1:1-4...but you might as well read the whole book!
Blessings,
~Jenna
